Picturesque Outdoor Wedding – Mt Vernon Lodge – Venue – Akaroa – Kim | Grant

Mt Vernon Lodge Wedding ; Gusty winds dominated the little town of Akaroa, the night before Kim and Grant’s wedding. Come the wedding morning; it was as calm as a sleeping baby’s room.

The calmness of the morning matched that of the bride and groom who are both by nature, very chilled individuals.

Let’s kick the day off!!!

Bride and the Bridesmaids wedding prep – Akaroa – Mt Vernon Lodge

We arrived at the girl’s bright, and early in the morning, everyone was relaxed, was an excellent way to start the day. They got their hair and makeup done in the Alpine Lodge before moving to a Maison Cottage to get dressed.
Mt Vernon is a fantastic spot for a wedding, plenty of space for both the Bride and Groom to get ready on-site without seeing each other and even accommodation onsite for the guests to stay the night of the wedding.
We had plenty of time once the girls were all dressed and get some relaxed shots with Dad as well.

Groom and Groomsmen Getting Ready – Mt Vernon – Akaroa

Grant and his groomsmen also got ready on site at the Lodge. They had spent the morning relaxing around the venue. Helping finish off the reception hall, helping with the set up for the ceremony spot. I even saw out of the window of the girl’s accommodation they were playing some frisbee with a beer in hand, no better way to start the day.
Cute little Marcus was included in the getting ready as well; this little man melts hearts!

Ceremony – Mt Vernon Lodge Wedding Venue – Akaroa

Kim’s maid of honour carried Marcus down the aisle with et cutest sign – “Daddy, here comes Mommy” (Kim’s Canadian)
The lawn with a harbour view is truly a beautiful spot for the wedding ceremony, the backdrop of the Akaroa Harbour is mesmerising. The ceremony was romantic and heartfelt.

Bridal Party Photos – Mt Vernon – Akaroa Harbour

We took the bridal party off-site for photos, not too far, though. Everything in Akaroa is so close to each other. First, we went into a paddock about the venue which gave us a great view of the hills behind and some excellent long grass. We then took the Bride and Groom down to the waterfront; it made for some beautiful shots.

Wedding Reception – Mt Vernon Lodge Hall

We got back from the bridal party photos early enough for Kim and Grant to spend a little time with their guests and of course Marcus before they were ready to move to the reception hall, again onsite, less than a minute walk down from the ceremony site. I love the reception time; I love hearing all the speeches and the amazing things people have to say. Kim and Grant had a big 3 tier cheesecake – my kind of cake! We finished off the evening by taking just the two of them off for some quiet time and a beautiful sunset.
