Mona Vale Gardens Engagement Photography: Shontelle tells and Jeremy preparing to tie the knot soon.
Mona Vale Gardens is like a mini version of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens, with ponds, rose gardens and even bridges but all on a smaller scale as compared to the Botanic.
The morning of Shontelle and Jeremy’s engagement shoot, the weather was miserable.
It was bucketing down rain with the forecast of clearing later in the day, and we had the shoot planned for midday, so we crossed our fingers and hoped for the best weather possible.
Long story short. The rain continued, and we saw this as a great chance to practice what we preach. So Armed with umbrellas, we went out into the rains and started shooting.
After the shoot in the rain for a few minutes, we went under cover of the Mona Vale homestead and even got lucky when the staff gave us a thumbs up to shoot a few frames in the manor’s foyer.
After the foyer, it was back in the rain again, and at this stage, it was just drizzling, and we captured a few more lovey dovey type of images before finishing the shoot.
Kudos to Shontelle and Jeremy for braving the weather and going through with the shoot. We had laughs and dad jokes, and the bottom line is we got some great images in the process
Photography Tip: double tip!!
1) Train yourself to be versatile so you can photograph in any weather be it raining, bright midday sun or cloudy. Great photographers learn to adapt to different situations they encounter and still produce good results.
2) If you have planned to have your photos taken, do not cancel the shoot due to weather (unless it’s horrible), situations like this can result in different and stunning photographs.
