Spencer Park Beach Engagement | Pre-Wedding Shoot Mark & Caroline

Spencer Park Beach Engagement; Mark and Caroline had been referred to us by Caroline’s sister who owns Mt Vernon Lodge in Akaroa, which is where these two are getting married as well.

We met Mark and Caroline at Spencer Park Beach. They hadn’t been to this particular beach but beaches, in general, hold a pretty special place in their hearts. Mark proposed to Caroline at the beach while they were away on the West Coast.

Caroline had timed the engagement shoot to tie in with her make-up trial, and if her trial is anything to go by she is going to look absolutely stunning on her special day.

We took the couple down to the beach front. It was late afternoon and the sun was starting to lean towards setting.

Up above there was a mixture of clouds and blue skies. A slight cool breeze was blowing from the sea, but it was still warm enough not to need jackets.

The beach was quiet with a few people taking walks and one or two having a swim. It didn’t really seem like swimming weather if you ask me.

The tide was low which left us with a whole lot of beach to play with.

The beach is such a versatile place for a photo shoot, so much to work with, the sand, the water, the dunes and even random trees/branches that wash up on the beach.

We took advantage of the driftwood and got some shots while they sat on the log and also standing against it.

The next location was only a few feet from the driftwood. Caroline and Mark then got to sit on the sand dunes amongst the foliage. The look we wanted to go for was a romantic candid feel while shooting through the grass. Once we got the shots we wanted we moved on to the next part of the wonderful beach.

These guys were brave enough to let us take them into the water. For some of the hots and if anyone knows Christchurch water at the beach it sure is freezing – when you step into the water it definitely wakes you up.

These two had organised the day perfectly after we left them they were heading out for children free date night – couldn’t ask for much more, definitely not.

We are now looking forward to their wedding at the venue with a view, Mt Vernon Lodge in Akaroa.
